Going = Growing

“I’m getting so big” was the response almost every child had after checking their height and weight this week during our Going = Growing HEALTH WEEK. Using the Mother Goose Time curriculum for “Food and Fitness” we explored topics like

“Because it’s fun to run and jump and play catch and I can’t wait for the ice to melt so we can swim at the beach too!”  … When I overheard a 6 six year old student make this comment

Indoor Safari

The laughing started when I announced that this weeks theme was “Backyard Safari.”  An observation that “it’s a blizzard outside” meant our backyard safari would be indoors.  Schools were closed due to the icy roads and blowing snow conditions, so some

Greener Grasslands

“Their grass might be greener, but our grass has snow on top so we can sled.” This was one response to asking what students thought when they heard the grass is greener phrase.  I love how many children chose to look at

Safari Animal Adventure

  This week Adventure Academy has been gone on Safari.  Instead of hibernating like our local bears, we left snow filled northern-Michigan to visit the animals of Africa. We roared like the lions, sprayed water like elephants, wrestled with rhinos,

Winter ROARS

  The sounds of music have changed to the sounds of animals as we explore the safari at Adventure Academy.  As we transitioned into winter we discussed how our local animals used migration, hibernation or adaptation to survive the weather
